Please give us a short summary of your website?
I created my web-site “Oksana Art Gallery” with purpose to share, promote, and sell my art works to people around of the world. Also, it is a way to find customers for my mural service. These two reasons are the general goals of me, my web-site, and my career.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
My love to art was my biggest inspiration to open this site, and Internet is the best way to show people what I paint. I want to promote this site and make people happy of buying my art and order my murals. I think that Internet is the best way to rich all this goals in my business.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I launched my web-site six months ago through Ucoz system.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I included tree words in the name of web site: Oksana - my first name which could assossiate with my art and business. Two other words are the most general words for this kind of business - Art Gallery. It is very simple and understandable name.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I can receive a rate for each of my art work, which gives me a lot of priority. I can understand what people like more and why and to make some predictions for my business.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to show people my art.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I think my web site is the best way to find success with low investment of time and money.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I'm an artist paint on canvas, so I would spend this money to get education in web design. After that I will use all my art skills and knowledge and will create a perfect looking picture for my web site!
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Depends how much orders I'll receive.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Not yet.
What has been your biggest challenge?
I'm a person who emmigrated four years ago from Ukraine to the U.S.A. Before that I didn't speak English and started my life from 0 here. Today I'm a half-time student of BGS program at Unniversity of Connecticut, full time worker in wholesales, part-time artist, wife, and mom of 5-years old daughter. My the biggest challenge is to make great career and to give goodness, happiness, and love to people through my art.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
It's a hard question.Any methods could be good.More methods - better promotion.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I would like to see more comments about my works, and what is the most important - to receive more orders from customers.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have run the site for six month, and I'm going to run it as long as I can.
