    Name of your website?

    Todd McKie

    Your name?

    Todd McKie

    Your Location (city, etc)

    Cambridge, MA

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Colorful and seriously witty paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture by a Boston artist who is influenced by "primitive" art and folk art. The site shows many examples of my work in various mediums - paintings, drawings, prints, etc. It also alerts folks to upcoming special events and exhibitions

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I became weary of people asking me for my website address!

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Launched the current site in fall, 2007. I'm still fiddling with it from time to time, adding new images, exhibits, reviews, etc.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Thought I'd stick with my own name - that way I'd be unlikely to forget it.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

I like to think it is personable and friendly. Friends have ultra-sleek sites with high concept design. They're impressive, but a bit cold.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media de al)

It functions as a way for people to learn about me and my work. I don't use it for selling work directly, but it directs potential customers to the galleries that do sell my work.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

The jury is still out on that, but, so far, I am happy with the response and am glad I invested the time and effort (major) to create it.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

    Probably not a lot.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I think, despite a gradual increase in visitors and attendant activity, that the site will stay relatively small.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Becoming familiar with various editing techniques and learning some HTML code.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth, mail cards, links.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I didn't know I'd spend quite so much time on it.

How long have you run the sit keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I'm gonna keep it - its a very useful tool for me.

How would you hope that a visitor to your site would react to what he/she sees there?

I'd be happy if they laughed, chuckled, shook their head in wonderment, bookmarked it, and then contacted one of the galleries that sell my work.

    What is your website address?

    Todd McKie
