I am a oil portrait painter, taking commissions

What inspired you to launch your own website?

to show my artwork and paintings

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

In 2005

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Because it was my name and www.davidnolan.net was available

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

The quality of my paintings and the fact that there are few portrait painters in Ireland

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I am a full time painter, so it would have to be more famous

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Well, 60 hours a week and success is coming

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would add flash, movies

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes

None, just art materials

What has been your biggest challenge?

Promotion

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

So far word of mouth

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It looks great, lots of people look at the site but no one emails me from my site

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

4 years, I will keep it going for as long as I live
