Human beings are units of expression. "Homo Sapiens" evolved primarily as performers in the interpretation of their environment. We "reinvent" life situations and the emotions we felt after the fact. If the lion ate my friend, then I do a dance to commemorate that happening and my grief. Thatīs what children are, you might say: learners of that basic human feedback on reality and the situations they live in. Thatīs what Illinois is accepting and recognizing through its "learning standards". Just let children be themselves and you rediscover the "fine arts" all over again.
