Name of your website?

www.victormavedzenge.com

Your name?

Victor Mavedzenge

Your Location (city, etc)

Harare, currently studying in London until 2010

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The site is an overview of the paintings i have done over the past 10 years. It also contains a bit of biographical material

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I wanted to reach out to an international audience and also sell my work through the world wide web

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I launched the site circa 2004 and it was a sub-domain the.i later upgraded to make it a fully functional website

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Well, thats who I am and people identify me by my name

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

I would like to say it is a very personal site.I took a rather radical approach and made it look as I want it to look and not like a generic art website. What makes it different is my personal touch to it and also the work I display there

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I would like to keep the site and communicat through it.Sell work and hopefully engage people with similar interests to mine

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

That is a relatively hard question to give a concrete answer to.Naturally, like any venture, time invested always reaps rewards so I think it is not an issue that I spend a fair amount of time on it

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would open it up to other Artists and help them promote their work through it.There is also an aspect of news lacking in the zimbabwean arts scene.I would like to develop a news feed to the site.It is also of interest to me to develop a database of information that artists could use.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

One always finds a way around such issues.i would like to think I am a very tenacious person

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None to date

What has been your biggest challenge?

SPreading word about the website and selling artwork, its a tough business

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Word of mouth and link exchanges have been helpful

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have run the site for circa 5 years and intend to keep it going as long as I am alive

What is your website address?
