What inspired you to launch your own website?
To share my enthusiasm for this wonderful (and much ignored) element of the Arts. To encourage this specialism.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
11th January 2008 but a Specialist since 1996.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Relevance to the subject. "Intaglio" relates to the art of carving usually in relief.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
The are very few competitors in this field either in UK or worldwide.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Sales and visability.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Satisfaction and sharing knowledge is the ultimate reward.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
A gallery in St James's London
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes but sourcing could be difficult at the right cost because all items are essentially rare.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Advertising. Transport of heavy items.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Obtaining the right stock.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
One to one contacts in the Arts world.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It hasn't.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
