Please give us a short summary of your website?
My business is creating hand painted, custom wall murals for your home or office. I generally like to specialize in Fantasy characters, sports themes and the such.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have always liked to draw and paint since I was young. I did my first wall mural and everyone kept telling me that I should do this as a business so I took there advise and here I am.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website. I launched it about 4 months ago.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I wanted something that was easy to remember and would lend itself to what I was creating so Murals 4U was what I came up with.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I think the difference is in what I create. Not many other sites are devoting themselves to Superheroes, Fantasy and Sports Themes.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To build my business enough where I can do this full time.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Still working on the success part and every day I spend some time on the site and developing my product. Hoping it will pay off soon.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would be able to spend more money on the development part of my site instead of having to rely on basically freebies.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes I believe I would. I would have to schedule projects and keep them flowing smoothly but it could be handled.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
No costs as I'm going the free route, and as far as headaches - well I am going the free route so getting quality freebies is the biggest headache.
What has been your biggest challenge?
To get my site listed on the web towards the top of the search engines - still working on that one
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Obtaining links from other related web sites and submitting to directories and basically using alot of word of mouth.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has been alot harder to get noticed than I was expecting and hoping.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have been running this site since I opened it about 4 months ago and I will continue running it to build by business.
Where do you see yourself in the next 2 years?
Hopefully running a full time business painting wall murals and having so many to do that I will be booked solid for years to come!!
