Your name?
Nancee Jean McClure
Please give us a short summary of your website?
Acrylic paintings and pastel paintings of the American West, including paintings of wildlife, landscapes, and ranch life.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I realized that artists and illustrators need an online presence and portfolio to exhibit their work.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first web site and it was launched in 2005.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
The only real distinction is that my art is uniquely my own.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
The goal of nanceejean.com is to introduce and display my paintings to potential art buyers and collectors.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
If I balance the cost and time invested into the web site against direct web sales, I am definitely in the hole.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
It would be better designed.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Increasing search engine ratings and visibility.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It takes more time than I expected.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
This site is three years old and I will continue to run it, even if I don't enjoy it.
